Kate Fox

Intellectual Property Attorney

Kate is an intellectual property attorney who focuses on patent preparation and prosecution. She has extensive experience in various chemical and mechanical fields, such as automotive control systems, industrial machinery, and chemical compositions. Kate has particular interest in materials science and alloy metals.

“I find material science fascinating. Each material might not seem all that different, but you make one tiny tweak and you get a different set of properties. It’s unpredictable, and I find that fun. It’s just one of the reasons why I enjoy helping clients who need patent assistance with inventions related to materials.”

Kate’s understanding of various materials science fields, combined with her previous experience as an engineer in metal recovery, enables her to provide her clients with a wide variety of intellectual property services. She has prepared and prosecuted numerous domestic and foreign patent applications, including analyzing communications from patent offices in the EU, China, Japan and Israel. Kate also provides various services to her clients before the patent preparation process, such as harvesting invention disclosures and preparing state-of-the-art patentability opinions. When a patent issues or when faced with a potential patent infringement matter, Kate’s clients rely on her to develop optimal patent enforcement and business strategies.

Born in England and raised in Nevada, Kate currently resides in Las Vegas. When she’s not helping clients manage their patent portfolios, she enjoys spending time with her husband and newborn daughter Elizabeth.

Industry Experience

Before joining Burris Law, Kate spent over two years as a patent practitioner with an intellectual property firm in Chicago. She has drafted a variety of patent applications across multiple industries. In addition to her legal experience, Kate also spent two years gathering technical experience as a production engineer in the magnesium recovery department at Titanium Metals Corp.
