Raymond Millien

Intellectual Property Attorney

Raymond, named one of the “World’s 300 Leading IP Strategists” by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Magazine and a “Corporate IP STAR” by Managing IP (MIP) Magazine, is special counsel to the firm. Prior to working with Burris Law, he was Chief Executive Officer of the 100-year-old IP law firm of Harness, Dickey & Pierce, P.L.C., overseeing the firm’s operations, including HR, IT, docketing, finance, business development, and marketing.

Previously, he was Chief IP Officer at Volvo Car Corporation and CEO of Volvo Cars Ventures in Sweden. He has led the IP function at GE Oil & Gas and the American Express Company as well as the software IP function at GE Healthcare. Millien also has served as General Counsel of merchant bank Ocean Tomo, LLC, and practiced law in the Washington, D.C., offices of DLA Piper US LLP and Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox PLLC.

Millien received a B.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University in New York City and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.

In addition to his career as an innovation and legal executive, Millien is a lecturer and an award-winning author with experience in venture capital, licensing, software development, and corporate and technology law.
