Lawdragon Selects Kelly Burris Among Top 500 Leading Global IP Lawyers

June 18, 2026

Burris Law founder Kelly Burris has been selected among the 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Global IP Lawyers. The international guide recognizes the world’s leading attorneys who are helping clients protect innovation, strengthen intellectual property portfolios, defend brand value, and leverage IP assets at the center of their businesses.

The second annual Lawdragon guide specific to IP attorneys was compiled through nominations and editorial research. The recognition comes during a milestone year for Burris Law, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2026. Founded by Kelly Burris — a former aerospace engineer, licensed pilot, inventor, and intellectual property attorney — Burris Law has grown from a three-person startup into a globally recognized IP firm serving more than 600 clients across the United States and internationally.

Now with offices in Detroit and St. Louis, Burris Law provides counsel in patent preparation and prosecution, post-grant proceedings, trademarks, trade secrets, IP transactions, and strategic portfolio development. The firm serves clients ranging from Fortune 50, Fortune 100, and Fortune 500 companies to mid-sized manufacturers, emerging businesses, and individual inventors across industries including aerospace, automotive, computer networking, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, advanced materials, medical devices, and consumer products. Over the past decade, Burris Law attorneys and patent agents have filed thousands of patent applications worldwide and secured more than 2,000 U.S. patents.

A defining feature of Burris Law is its distinctive “fly-to-client” service model. Through this approach, Burris pilots her Daher TBM 940 aircraft to visit clients at their facilities, meet directly with engineers and inventors, see technologies firsthand, and develop patent strategies grounded in a deeper understanding of each client’s innovation and business goals.

The Lawdragon recognition adds to a growing list of honors for Kelly Burris and Burris Law. Kelly has been ranked this year among the Michigan Lawyers Weekly Legal 250; selected in Powered by Women by DBusiness in Detroit; and by Crain’s Detroit Business among the Leaders in Law. Burris Law has been recognized among the 2026 “Best Up & Coming Law Firms” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly; by Juristat among top-performing patent firms before the USPTO; ranked among the top firms in the Patent Bots Patent Quality Rankings; and named a Tier 1 Detroit firm in Patent Law by Best Law Firms.
