Burris Law owner and founder Kelly Burris was appointed to Western Michigan University’s (WMU) Board of Trustees by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on February 2, 2023. Kelly received her undergraduate degree in aeronautical engineering from the university. She is joined by two other new appointees.

“We are pleased and honored to welcome this slate of new appointees to the Board of Trustees. Their vast experiences in thought leadership will bring fresh perspectives to the table for the next several years, and we appreciate their willingness to serve,” says WMU President Edward Montgomery. “As they embark upon this new responsibility, we look forward to working together diligently and responsively to advance the mission of the University.”

Kelly will fill the seat vacated by former trustee Ron Kitchens and complete the term ending Dec. 31, 2024.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to engage with the talented team of educators, administrators and students at Western Michigan University,” says Kelly. “I am looking forward to engaging with the university to innovate a path to increasing educational opportunities and success for a broad array of students.”
